The debate over bathrooms is based on a myth. The examples cited by some to prove the “bathroom predator” myth are actually examples of men doing awful things regardless of the law — which has, unfortunately, happened since the beginning of civilization. They are not, as has been alleged, examples of predators taking advantage of nondiscrimination laws meant to let trans people use the bathroom or locker room for their gender identity.

Mom of VA teen convicted of sex assault says, “they’re twisting this to make it a political hot-button issue”

The mom of the 15-year-old Virginia boy found guilty of sexually assaulting a female classmate said her son doesn’t identify as a female and didn’t wear a skirt as a disguise to slip into the girls’ bathroom.

VA Sexual Assault Wrongly Portrayed as a Transgender Bathroom Issue

A VA teen boy’s sexual assault of his girlfriend in school was substantially misreported. The teen boy – the perpetrator – did not target a random student, and he did not choose the girls bathroom because of his gender identity. Instead, the perpetrator and the victim had a relationship, and had met in the bathroom for sexual activity previously. Also, the trans-inclusive bathroom policy was not in effect at the time of the assault.
